Cape Point Tour
The Cape Point Tour takes in most of Cape Town, famously described by that great explorer Sir Francis Drake, as “the fairest cape in the whole circumference of the globe”, and which other explorers named the Cape of Storms. These two fully accurate descriptions give you an idea of the contrasts and diverse characteristics of this beautiful peninsula at the foot of the African continent. We have calm lakes and rough seas, soft beaches and dramatic cliffs, beachfront promenades and steep hiking trails, bustling highways and spectacular unspoilt mountains – we have it all!
To experience the full splendour of the Cape we offer a choice of 2 day trips – the Cape Point Tour starts with a drive through the scenic areas of Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay with the famous 12 Apostles peaks on our left. Our drive takes us along the beautiful coastal Victoria Drive, the very last project of South Africa’s master road builder Thomas Bain over a century ago. Driving through the fishing village of Hout Bay we then ascend the breathtaking Chapman’s Peak – one of the world’s most spectacular mountain and coastal drives. This segment of the Cape Point Tour is a must stop for photographs and jaw-dropping views.
We continue along a beautiful winding coastal road to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, passing through the coastal villages of Kommetjie, Scarborough and Misty Cliffs. We might visit an ostrich farm on the way. At the Reserve we will go to the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point and take the Flying Dutchman funicular to the old lighthouse. Driving through the reserve you can expect to see baboons, ostriches, antelope, Cape Mountain zebra and a variety of other smaller mammals. We will have lunch overlooking the ocean at Cape Point.
Our journey then takes us back along the False Bay side of the Cape Peninsula to Boulders Beach where we will visit the famous African penguin colony shared by beach-goers. The conclusion to the Cape Point Tour sees us return to your hotel along the coast with scenic views of Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, Muizenberg and the Constantia Valley winelands.
Please note that if Chapman’s Peak Drive is closed an alternative route will be taken to reach Noordhoek.
